Global Running Day is Wednesday, June 7! So on this episode, I’m talking about why I run, what I love about the running community, and why I sometimes miss being a new runner. I also share a bit more about my history with exercise addiction, and how I stopped being obsessed with running and instead started seeing it as something to do because I love my body, not because I hate it. Celebrate Global Running Day on June 7 by getting out for a run, whether it’s one mile alone or 10 miles with friends, and then let me know how it goes!
Stuff I Mention on this Episode:
The Day I Finally Felt Like a Runner
Rock n Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon
2011 Rock n Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon recap
My experience with InsideTracker

So inspirational, sometimes it’s cool to hear people with such enthusiasm, it really works for me to go out and run every day. Thanks for your blog!
Hey Ali – I call myself a ‘runner’ but for the last 3-4 weeks I’ve been struggling for the first time ever .. . It’s been hard to get out there in the early, cold, dark mornings (yip, I live in NZ and it’s winter in this little corner of the South Pacific). Thank you for your honest portrayal of Running – some mornings are brilliant, easy and wonderful and some mornings are a struggle – but every morning that I do actually get out there I am reminded what a privilege it actually is.
I listened to your Dan Nevins podcast this morning (and was enthralled) and your Global Running podcast tonight.
Just wanted to say Thank you for your honesty, enthusiasm and commitment – from a runner that listens, reads and enjoys but rarely comments.
Best wishes for your current health challenges too – hope you are back to being where you want to be soon.
I’m not an athlete, but an enthusiast runner, i use SportMe marathon trainingwhich calculates distance, time, pace and calories.
