Sun’s [not] out, tongue’s out!Our little monster has been living her best life these days. She’s been to Washington, D.C., where she got to hang out with her puppy cousin, Ranger, and took a road trip to New Hampshire, where she had so much fun with her human cousins, Tyler and Abby. Here’s a look inside her fabulous, hang-out-with-your-fang-out life lately.
She got to spend lots of time playing with her puppy cousin, Ranger, who taught her how to go in and out of a doggy door, and she loved sleeping in a big king bed in the hotel.
Well, at least one of us liked the big bed. WHICH IS CUTER? I like both. Sightseeing!
We also put the windows down in the car for the first time (she’s buckled in with a car harness, because #safetyfirst and also #helicopterparenting), and she went wild for it. She loves feeling the breeze!
That ear! Just chillin’ at the drive-thru. I got that sunshine in my pocket…
Ellie spent a long weekend visiting her Grammy and Pop-Pop in New Hampshire.
We’re on Snapchat! @aliontherun1 Having fun on the swings!
She loves my niece and nephew, Abby and Tyler, so much. Abby was unsure of Ellie on Day 1, but by Day 2, she was screaming at the bottom of the stairs (“Woof!!!”) to wake Ellie up so she could come down and play.
“Nice!” She loved it. Eventually. I LOVE THIS. She did NOT like the llamas. ‘Scuse me while my heart explodes. CUZ WE’RE THE THREE BEST FRIENDS THAT ANYONE COULD HAVE. Nailed it.
And Ellie adores Tyler. She just followed him everywhere he went, and he loved using her as a pillow.
The most patient, tolerant puppy ever. FRAMING THIS. More snuggling. Pause from snuggling for some kissing. All weekend long.
Ellie went for her first swim!!!
I was so proud I cried actual tears. Is this normal human behavior?
GO ELLIE! She loved it! We would throw a stick and she would swim out and get it and bring it back! GENIUS DOG. Go home, Ellie. You’re drunk. RESCUE PUPS CAN JUMP! No respect for personal space. OK YOU’VE HAD ENOUGH.
Ellie was the best spectator ever at the Brooklyn Half!
I’ll tell ya, there’s nothing better than seeing your pup as you approach the finish line! Ellie liked playing in the sand at Coney Island (but she didn’t like the big waves!), and she loved seeing all the runners at the bar afterward.
She loves to dig holes! Coney Island hot dog!
She loves runners because they always stop to pet her, and she gets to lick their sweat. Anytime she sees a runner, no matter where we are, she perks up and her tail starts going crazy. That’s my girl.
She looks sad because she wanted me to get to the finish line faster. Sorry, pup. Did my best! What is this shiny necklace you are wearing?! Why do you get a medal if you didn’t win?! OK, THANKS FOR THE SNACK. Spectating is hard work!
She also traveled to Brooklyn to watch the Red Hook Crit!
Brian just casually held all 50 lbs. of her so she, too, could watch the race. NBD.
Ellie learned to go up and down the stairs at my parents’ house, but she still refuses to jump in and out of the car.
Sigh.
…still afraid of some stairs, though. We’re working on it, I swear…
Ellie continues to be a good dog who plays hard and naps hard.
Same.
LIVING HER BEST LIFE. Sleepy puppy! I have no idea when Brian took this, but TBH it could’ve been any given night or morning. This is pretty standard. (Actually less so lately, since she got her own fancy bed!) After the Brooklyn Half, I napped for two hours. They slept for six. Napping buddies. All day, every day. Except weekdays.
And she continues to rock the hell out of that underbite.
Can’t. Stop. Taking. Pictures. That signature snarl. ELLIE, UR LIP IS STUCK. LOOK AT THIS!!! This is a PAINTED locket with pictures of Ellie!!! How awesome is that? My friend Sharon sent it to me. (We haven’t met IRL, but internet friendship is real, and she has two cute doggies.) I love it so much.
I’m a long time reader but have never commented. Your Friday’s with Ellie were finally too much for me and so my husband and I rescued a Pitt bull lab puppy named Squirrel this weekend.
That little underbite – so freaking cute! I love how you guys do so much with her and include her in all your adventures. Best dog mom and dad ever! ❤️
I just posted about my road trip to lake George and there is a pic of my boyfriend’s dog Chester with the same ear flapping up head out the window photo. Lol. Glad you are enjoying the heck out of your new dog parent journey. I’m in year 7 and love my pooch more each day.

I have a sneaking suspicion you will approve.
THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER.
I’ve been having a rough week, and your post made my heart happy. Hi, Ellie! <3

This comment made my day. She’s part of the family!
Friday’s are made by posts about Ellie! The photo of you Brian, Tyler, Abby and Ellie is priceless!
Ellie is one lucky pup…..and you are one awesome dog mama! This post just makes me smile and I love every single picture.
Nothing but smiles!!! These snuggles are out of control 🙂
Such a cute post! LOVE THE LOCKET! If someone (anyone–Sharon or you) let me know how those can be ordered would love to get one as a gift for someone!
Of course! The artist is Khara Ledonne. Here’s her Etsy site: https://www.etsy.com/shop/kharaledonne, and here’s a cool video of her locket-making process: https://vimeo.com/109888849. She’s so talented, it’s insane.
Fridays with Ellie > Everything else in life.
AGREED.
The nephew-cuddling-the-Ellie photos are unreal.
I know. My heart was exploding the entire time. They love each other so much.
