It’s been a long, crazy week around here.
Last Saturday, our sweet little puppy hopped her front paws onto our [way too low] coffee table, where a [full] glass of water was conveniently situated next to my [open and on] laptop.

That’s the short story of how my sweet, once reliable 2010 Macbook Pro died an instantaneous, “cannot be recovered” death. After completely flipping out (I’m embarrassed…namaste), I ran my water-logged computer to the Apple Genius Bar, and was given the tragic diagnosis: “It’s gone. Sorry.” RIP.

(Cue my all-time favorite “Sex and the City” episode where Carrie’s computer dies and she goes batshit on Aidan. Which is precisely what I did to Brian. Yes it was my water and my computer, and yes, they shouldn’t have been near each other where the puppy could access them. But he picked out the coffee table when we moved in together years ago, so I think we can all agree that this was his fault.)
So today, I’m introducing a new thing called Fridays With Ellie. It’s just photos of my puppy. Because it’s Friday, and my brain hurts and my eyes hurt and my nose is froze and my toes is froze and my tail’s froze (name that movie), so let’s all just look at cute pictures, OK?

First, I am very pleased and proud to announce that Ellie is officially a Puppy School Graduate! She had her fifth and final Puppy Level I class last weekend (RIP laptop), and she aced her graduation exam (she had to demonstrate “sit,” and she nailed it).

Yes, I bought her a made-to-order, custom graduation cap. SHE DID NOT HATE IT.

Ellie continues to grow at warp speed, and her weight has almost doubled since we got her. I make sure I tell her she is cute and perfect and beautiful every single day, because I don’t want her to grow up with body issues. Weight gain can be tough emotionally.

Ellie loves all dogs. She likes to make herself small when she plays with little dogs, and she loves big dogs. She is well socialized and is a very happy puppy. She has a school best friend and a home best friend, which is nice. It’s good to spread out your #squad.

Ellie loves the veterinarian’s office. Her vet is conveniently located one block from our apartment, so we go by the office every time I take her out. Ellie always runs to the door and immediately sits down outside and stares at the front desk people. And every time they buzz me in like we have an appointment, but we don’t. Ellie just wants to stare at them like an absolute creep.

Ellie loves birds and squirrels. And by “loves” I mean she sees them, freezes, and stares at them for as long as I’ll let her.

Ellie’s favorite show is Dance Moms. If it’s on (which, yes, it often is around here), she’s glued to it. She was less interested in the Super Bowl, but loved the halftime show.

Ellie has the most rockin’ underbite. I am obsessed with it. I call her Lil’ Fang or Sweet Fang now. Almost all of her puppy teeth have fallen out, and poor girl just cannot adjust to her newer, larger adult teeth. It’s my favorite thing.

And a few more for good measure…

Happy Friday!
TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD. Weekend plans? Race plans? Nutella plans? Puppy plans? Give it to me.

Hi Ali! I’ve been looking for a good harness, what kind is Ellie’s?
It’s the Easy Walk harness. We love it — much better and sturdier than just having the collar on her!
And PS: the graduation cap. I died.
Shut up Ellie, MY favorite show is Dance Moms! It’s like we are besties.
I’m so sorry about your laptop but I love your fricking dog, I really can’t get enough.
That really sucks about your computer!! Did enjoy the puppy pics though. Hope your weekend ended better than it started!
Best of luck with you new laptop and I love your dog so much. Also Brian did great in his analysis
i just recently found out i might have Crohns disease. disease. i am a bit distraught, He won’t test me for another month..
Looks like you and Brian are settling in well with Ellie. That’s good.
This weekend was filled with more Chinese New Year visits from relatives and friends. There were also 2 potluck breakfasts organized by some of the running groups in town on Saturday and Sunday. All in, a lot of merrymaking.
My ex spilled water on his macbook and it was proclaimed dead. I still let it sit with rice on the keyboard for a bit. It still didn’t work and wouldn’t charge so we just put it in the closet. Two months later I figured I’d test it out and it turned on and EVERYTHING WAS STILL THERE. Safari even had his internet tabs still open.
So…wait a few months? Maybe it will miraculously work.
Awesome Ellie for graduating. And your cap is so cute. Ellie is so expressive. We are Mommy and Poppy and I think that’s totally cool!! We have the most fun “talking” for her and have conversations!! The underbite makes me smile. She is beautiful!!
101 Dalmatians!! I quote that line and “I’m so hungry I could eat a whole elephant”(even though elephants are my fav and the idea of anyone hurting them is awful) all the time!
101 Dalmatians!!!
Aww, sorry about your laptop. You “backed up” didn’t you? Lol, I love ALL S&TC episodes!
I have a date with a 9yr old tonight. And a date with AMC on Sunday night!
OMG. Your puppy is adorable. Im so sorry about your laptop!
Omg I love everything about this. Isn’t the losing puppy teeth phase the weirdest? Jax would just like spit them out. I saved them and I plan to make a necklace from them some day (only kidding about the second part of that). Today is my little boys first birthday and I can hardly contain myself. He had eggs for breakfast and we’re doing presents and cake tonight. Don’t tell, but we got him an ifetch- coolest thing ever, youtube it!
This entire post made me smile – except the part about your laptop. Dang….that’s not cool at all. I hope you are taking that out of her allowance.
I love Ellie pictures!
101 DALMATIONS! My first ever movie and favorite movie for some time. I had to skip to the end to comment. Ellie is too cute and I’m sorry about the water. Will she be my valentine? Ok cool
She should meet my fur nephew – he is obsessed with squirrels. My sister moved here from Miami last year and he has become the best little squirrel watcher ever.
I punked out of my own birthday brunches a couple weeks ago because I was too tired after 2 nights out prior (lol my bad, old age) so have two days of brunching coming my way. And Monday off. Woo long weekend!
