It’s so easy to be thankful today because this week has been filled with amazing news and great people. So let’s get right to it…
I’m thankful for my friends. This one is a no brainer, and I’ve written about it before. I’m thankful for the amazing girls in my life all the time, but over the past month they have all been exceptionally wonderful. It seems like a lot of my friends are at major turning points in their lives right now, with exciting engagements, new jobs on the horizon, the culmination of grad school and moving forward with live-in boyfriends. It’s all exciting and I’m so grateful that even though some of us live in different cities, we’ve been able to stay on top of each others’ lives.
I’m thankful for my new PR! I’m still giddy with excitement over the fact that I pulled a 1:44 race time out of nowhere last weekend in D.C. I never thought I would be a runner, let alone a sub-2 hour half marathoner. I’ll be riding high on this one for a little while, if you don’t mind.
I’m thankful I’ve learned how to take care of myself. Lately I’ve really been paying attention to how my legs feel before and after runs. I’m trying to be more aware of any oncoming pain and have been going to town with my foam roller and The Stick. I’m taking time to stretch, which I was definitely slacking on for a while.
I’m thankful for spinning. I’ve been really loving my gym’s spin classes lately, and even wrote about them for NBC New York. [Shameless plug.] Check out my post here. My legs have been feeling super strong during each class and I’ve been getting in the zone more than usual. It’s a good feeling.
I’m thankful for running. Always. This morning I beat the rain and enjoyed three miles along the river. There are no sunrise photos to share today because there was no sunrise. It’s a rainy, gloomy day in NYC, but starting the day of with a run makes me not care so much about the weather.
I’m thankful for dresses. In case I haven’t made my obsession clear yet, I’m a big fan of dresses. They’re huge time savers in the morning. Today all I had to do was throw on one of my favorite dresses, wrap a belt around it and I was done.
Are those shoulder pads? Why yes, yes they are. This dress has really thin shoulder pads built in, and in the spirit of a week filled with leg warmers and scrunchies, wearing this today seemed fitting.
I’m also wearing a sapphire necklace my brother gave me a few years ago. This photo doesn’t do it justice, but it’s gorgeous and reminds me of the necklace from Titanic!
I’m thankful for you, readers. I’m cheesy, I know. But I’ve been loving all of your insightful, helpful comments lately and I’m glad you’re sticking around.
NOW IT’S YOUR TURN: Keep those awesome comments coming and let me know what you’re thankful for today!

Would like to point out that you are wearing the “Titanic-like” necklace the day after Celine Dion’s birthday. Coincidence? I think not! Haha.
You’re happy post put in a good mood, thanks 🙂
That’s an AMAZING PR – congrats! I’m chasing after 2 hours myself…I ran the National Half this past weekend as well, but didn’t PR – oh well, there’s always next time!
I’m thankful for my strong legs that keep me running!
I love that necklace and dress-beautiful! I am thankful for a hot cup of herbal tea, my family, awesome friends, and a fabulous husband:)
You must also be thankful to have a brother that would buy you such a gorgeous necklace!
My friend Kyle is in your race picture!
I’m definitely thankful for a lot of things and think it’s great that you take the time to post on it.
Today I’m thankful for my family, friends and health. These have been challenged lately which has motivated me to make sure I’m not taking any of them for granted.
I’m also thankful for the fact that I work in an office where gym clothes are perfectly acceptable. I had high aspirations of taking a shower and changing when I got here but work seemed more important than looking good!
hi ali! i think you should read this http://thebullrunner.com/2011/03/29/date-a-girl-who-runs/ 🙂 it’s amaaazing
I’m thankful for my friends and family because they make me the stronger and always support me!
I’m thankful for the energy to wake up in the morning and the ability to run 5 miles EASILY, when only 2 months ago, 1 mile was painful.
And I’m thankful for your blog, you’re always so happy, very inspirational!
I LOVE the outfit and great post on Spinning!
Britney: “But I thought the old lady dropped into the ocean at the end”
Dude: “Well, baby, I went down and got it for ya.”
Britney: “Aww, you shouldn’t have.”
I am thankful that my son ate asparagus last night.
I’m thankful for my 4 weeks of vacation a year – which allows me to take random days off to do things like fly to Nashville for a long weekend with friends! 🙂
can you just stop being shocked that you’re a “runner” and start telling it like it is: “I’m a mother effing FAST RUNNER and I haul ass for 13.1 miles baby”
I am also thankful for dresses. I just wish it would start being warmer so I can wear my SUNdresses instead of my dark boring long sleeve dresses. Was that too much of a backhanded gratitude for thankful thursday?
I am thankful that Ecco Domani never stops being a delicious wine and always stays under 10 dollars a bottle. And I am thankful I had some on hand when I had a minor training panic attack last night.
I am thankful for fun weekend plans that are the perfect balance of playing and sweating.
I had a dream about you and that I went to your work with you (I think you got me a job there?) and I got to see this bathroom where you take your clothing photos, only that day you looked ridiculous so you weren’t taking one.
I am thankful for photographs. How amazing that we live in a world where we can capture a moment forever.
Haha! I would love it if you worked here — then you could take the photos FOR me, instead of me taking ridiculous self-portraits all the time! Hehe.
Thankful Thursday! Yay! I am thankful for:
1) Being healthy (sorta)
2) Having the most amazing friends who make me laugh and smile every single day(you)
3) Getting a small subtle shoutout in your blogggggggggg wooooooo hahahaha
4) Cadbury Mini Eggs
SO proud of you I could burst.
I’m thankful for you putting up that photo of us in Vermont, because that was the best weekend ever. I’m thankful that we text or tweet almost every morning before 8AM. I’m thankful for exciting news. I’m thankful for our friendship (I am not thankful that I am feeling corny this morning!)
I love that dress!! I totally took the easy way out with this weather and threw pants on and a sweater… Sometimes on days like this I like to dress up because it puts me in a better mood.. ON a positive note I got a bright colored manicure last night 🙂
I forgot to congratulate you on your PR 🙂
You should be thankful, that PB is awesome!
And without friends, what would the world be?? Outfit looks smashing!
cheers
