Smiling Can Cure

As I wrote this morning, I fear I’m getting sick. My throat is sore and I’m achy, but other than that I’m OK. I’m hoping the symptoms stay at bay rather than turn into something miserable.

My plan for tonight is to do some laundry, watch “Glee,” take a long, hot shower and get to bed early.

So instead of writing a post about my day — to summarize, it was busy — I’m going to post photos that make me happy. Because when you’re feeling sick, you need to smile. Smiling can cure you.

Well. Maybe smiling can’t cure you. But it can’t hurt, right?

Without further ado, here are some happy pictures…

My little cousins. They are the cutest things alive.
I loved visiting D.C. for the first time last year — and I can't wait to return next weekend for the National 1/2 Marathon!
My parents are high school sweethearts. They got married in 1981 and my mom still laughs at my dad's jokes. It's awesome.
This photo was taken after the NYC 1/2 Marathon last year. That was my last 1/2 marathon!
I used to be obsessed with online makeovers. I went through a phase where I wanted to dye my hair brown and get bangs!
This is Dee, my roommate for all four years of college. We lived together in Australia. Now she lives too far away.
I loved running the Las Vegas 1/2 Marathon with Team Challenge. I kind of want to do it again this year! Any takers?
These are my grandmothers at my brother's wedding. How stinkin' cute are they?
NYC Marathon! Count me in for next year!
This dress. I'm obsessed. Must. Have.
I love waking up to this view during the summer at my aunt's house in Ocean City, NJ.

Phew! I could keep posting and posting… But I won’t. I’ll fold my laundry, paint my toenails and get to bed.

Sweet dreams!

  1. Honey looks so great! And you already know I love your rents so I won’t go on about how great they are! Keep smiling though, you will feel better soon and kick butt in the half!

PS I’m a big fan if Emergen-C when I’m sick. It’s these little packets you add to your water filled with vitamin c and other good stuff, you can get it at CVS or any grocery store. Feel better!

  2. It’s so fun (and healing) to spend time remembering the things that make you happy. Here’s to happiness and healing! Hope you feel better in the morning.

  3. Loved the pic of your Ps – made me smile. Mine are HS sweethearts too… I don’t know how my mom still thinks my dad’s jokes are funny 🙂

Also, is it easier for people from NYC to get into the marathon??? I didn’t get selected in last year’s lottery! Sad face.

    Feel better!

    1. Through the lottery it’s harder for people from NYC to get in because more people apply (I think) and they try to maintain a diverse group of runners. But in order to get in for 2012, I’m doing the New York Road Runners 9+1 program. This means I’m a NYRR member and will run nine races this season in addition to volunteering for one event. It’s a big time commitment, but so far it’s been fun!
