Regular happy posting will resume…now!
Thanks for all the love and happy thoughts the past few days. It’s been an exhausting week, but I’m moving forward with it — in honor of Thankful Things Thursday.
Also, your comments on yesterday’s “hair washing” discussion were fantastic. I’m thinking maybe I should up the shampoo and conditioning routine to twice a week. Seems like most of you do the full wash 3–4 times a week, and a handful do it every day. Once a week for me probably isn’t enough. And now I feel grimy for sharing that with all of you… Don’t judge, por favor.
Here’s my quick list of things I’m thankful for today, then I’ll go into some more detail:
- I’m thankful for my fabulous girlfriends. Yes, we’ve grown apart a bit since college, but they are still there for me when I need them. Rock solid.
- I’m thankful for extended daylight hours. Springtime is right around the corner.
- I’m thankful for the upcoming long weekend. This one is obvious. Who doesn’t love an extra day off?
- I’m thankful for my health.
So yeah, it’s light out when I leave work now. Ho-ly awesome. I usually leave between 5 and 5:30 pm, and this is what it looked like when I peaced out yesterday:

Yes, yes I did just say “peaced out.” This is a judgment free zone, like Planet Fitness, and I will say “peaced out” if I want to.
After work yesterday I went to the gym for some quick strength training, foam rolling and a spinning class. I am very proud to say that after years of struggling with even being able to get into a side plank position, yesterday I increased my balancing time by 15 seconds on each side! I did a total of 1 minute 15 seconds before switching to the other side.
Spinning was awesome — it always is on Wednesdays — although I wasn’t really feeling the instructor’s Valentine’s Day mix. The “holiday” was on Monday. Let’s move onto St. Patrick’s Day, shall we? Or Easter, because then I will eat many Cadbury Mini Eggs.
Because ABS and I had dinner plans last night, I was forced to shower at my gym for the very first time. Let’s talk about that in another post sometime, shall we? I have many thoughts on the topic.
We met for dinner in the Meatpacking District at Abe & Arthur’s to celebrate ABS’s birthday. I’d give the place 4 stars for food (Out of 5 stars I guess? I’m making this rating system up here.) and zero stars for service. The bartenders, coat checkers and waiter were all extremely unpleasant, which I hate. They were pretentious, and that’s a turn-off.
Despite the service, we had a great meal! And boy did we eat. We had tuna tartar tacos and meatballs to start, then ABS got a NY strip and I got cod for our entrees. We split two sides: mac and cheese (amazing) and spinach. I liked the sides the best! And because I was so full, I have some cod and spinach leftovers for dinner tonight.
When we got back to the apartment, ABS opened presents and was so thrilled with the gift he received from my parents: the FIFA Soccer game for Wii. He didn’t just want to play it — he wanted to master it. And he wanted me to watch.
We were up until midnight. He loves the game, but I am sleepy today.
Still, the 5:30 am alarm beckoned this morning, and I begrugingly responded to it.

I ran 4 miles this morning, and those miles were tough. My legs felt heavy and the entire time it was like I was running through molasses. I kept waiting for my legs to loosen up but they never really did. Yoga tonight? Absolutely!
It’s a beautiful day in NYC — it was already 48 degrees when I ran this morning. Naturally that calls for an obnoxiously bright outfit, don’t you think?

Admittedly this isn’t my favorite dress. It’s from the Banana Republic outfit from a few years ago, and I wear it because it’s so comfortable and easy to throw on.
It also makes me want to do this pose:

Be sure to visit Ashley’s blog around noon today for a guest post I wrote about dressing for the 9–5 world.
Today’s jam that’s making me smile: “E.T.” by Katy Perry. It’s so dang catchy and I can’t stop listening to it (which inevitably means I’ll be sick of it within 48 hours).
YOUR TURN: Tell me your thankful thoughts!
Have a great day!

I think the dress is cute! 😀
Today I am thankful for the weather. It is amazing!
Don’t up to 4 days a week for sure…not necessary and can dry out curly hair!
Today I’m thankful for:
-The fact that I only have to work 4 days a week, so my weekend starts on Friday
-A day to focus on errands and cleaning
-A great workout buddy
-The box of desserts my mom sent to me!
I am so excited about the extended lightness!! 😀 And just imagine when we actually have DLS time!
Love that dress!
Oh, and I always say “peaced out” Or “I’m gonna peace.” haha
I’m thankful for the warm weather! Also, I’m thankful that it’s almost the weekend!!!
Ah, I wish it was light when I left work! I tend to get out around 6:30-7 so I don’t see sunlight in the winter! Can’t wait for daylight savings time…
I’m thankful for the warmer weather today and tomorrow– I ran in shorts and it was amazing!
I meant to ask you more about this whole hairwashing thing yesterday before spin but there was no time. Your dinner sounds delicious!
I am thankful for perfectly ripened avocados.
The confidence is what makes the outfit so work it!!! lol
Ugh I hate when restaurants have crappy service, especially if the food is good. One day you’ll want to go back because of the food but you’ll probably not end up going because the service sucks so bad.
Cadbury mini eggs!!! Those are simply the best. 🙂
I am thankful for @airfarewatchdog, who tweeted up a crazy Delta Airlines sale on Europe flights on Tuesday. My sister and I were able to snag $200 roundtrip tickets to Barcelona! We’re going for two weeks next month and plan to also visit Madrid, Paris and Dublin. Cannot wait!
Right this very second, I am thankful that this patient will only be here for another 45 minutes. Some patients are SO difficult..geesh.
I’m thankful today is pay day, yay!
Girllll, look at you! You look fabulous, and I die for those shoes.
I didn’t get to comment on your post yesterday, but I absolutely would NOT up the hair washing if I were you. I wash my hair as little as possible, and get annoyed and upset if for whatever reason I have to wash it more than I’d like. Hair doesn’t get dirty from sweat, sweat is not dirt, and your hair will be much healthier and shinier if you don’t wash it (for people like us, with thick dry hair). As long as once a week works for you, stick with it. I aim for once a week as well.
Gorgeous weather today!!!
