First of all, thank you for all of your wonderful comments on last night’s “Sad Ali” post. Your responses cheered me up quite a bit!
Second of all, shout out to ABS. Today is his birthday! Any guesses on how old he is? We’re going out to dinner tonight at Abe & Arthur’s, which should be delicious. We’ve both been wanting to go there for a little while now, and the name seemed fitting for his big day.
OK, let’s talk about today, shall we?
I had a really hard time waking up this morning. I haven’t been getting nearly enough sleep these past few days, but I still wanted to get some sort of run in this morning.
I was a little worried when I saw that it was 28 degrees outside, but when I got out there it was surprisingly nice and comfortable.
Plus, the sunrise… Oh my gosh, the sunrise.
This morning was perhaps the best one yet.

There’s something so peaceful about this running route. Now that the sun comes up later (and, ugh, I wake up later each day), the timing is perfect for me to run along as the sun comes up over the water.
Granted, I say “peaceful” and yet as I’m running I’m listening to oddly kinky music like Rihanna’s “S&M” song. To each her own, right?
My run was OK. I would have liked to cover 4 miles but I only had time for 3. My morning also consisted of picking up my dry cleaning, wrapping presents for ABS (as last-minute as possible!) and picking out a stellar outfit that would work for both work and dinner.
Fun fact: I didn’t wear tights today! I just didn’t want to, and I’m ready to retire all of my tights for the season pretty soon. Plus, I wasn’t cold at all during my commute!

My outfit today is one you’ve seen before: the beloved blue dress.

I have a black blazer with me in case I get cold, but for now I’m quite comfy as I settle into the office.
You can’t always control what happens in life. But you can control your outfits. And if you dress the part, I promise it will perk you up at least a little bit.
Down from soap box.
TALK: I want to know how often you wash your hair. I know this is totally unrelated to the post. Since I exercise daily I also shower daily, and wet/rinse my hair both times. But I only shampoo and condition it once or twice a week. Your thoughts, please!
Have a great day!

I LOVE that blue dress and the coat- cute!!
I work out daily as well and will wash my hair every 2 days. The first day my hair is down and the 2nd day its almost alway up with a head band. I bought a ton of them and they look cute even with a plain ponytail!
I will dry my hair after the workout and this makes it stay in better shape for the next day!
I randomly came across your blog while searching for potential wedding venues. But, first things first – I also am a big runner (try to do 20miles a week…have done a few half marathons and did my one and likely only marathon la hairst year)…and only wash my once a week. Washing hair daily is so bad – it’s just a western thing to do.
Dry shampoo transformed my life years ago. I’ve tried lots of brands – favorite is oscar blandi – read more about it here – http://wholebeauty.tumblr.com/post/3072569528
Finally! Can you share your friends info that got married at 60 thompson and as kittichai? We had our first date at kittichai and was curious if your friend was happy choosing them as a venue. Thanks for any help!
P.S. – loved your 100 happy things
Shoot me an email at alison dot feller at gmail dot com and I’ll gladly share more about 60 Thompson. It was a BEAUTIFUL ceremony.
Someone looked good today 😉 I love that dress! I’m so excited it’s starting to get warmer out, not only cause I don’t have to bundle up when I run but it also means wearing pretty spring clothes 🙂
I wash and condition my hair everyday. I know it’s not good for your hair but I’ve done it for so long that it’s become a routine.
I only wash my hair a couple of times a week. It’s SO thick, and if I washed it daily, it would just be a destroyed mess. If I’m not washing it, I usually don’t get it wet at all. Thankfully, it almost never gets oily, but I’ve been thinking about investing in some dry shampoo for those days when it gets really gnarly but I don’t want to do a full wash.
I wash my hair every 3-4 days. I just wear a shower cap (sexay) in the shower. Getting my hair wet in the shower will result in me having to blow dry & re-straighten. (time consuming). Sometimes I use dry shampoo but rarely, because it doesn’t give me the results I want. Maybe I should try another brand?
Your posts make me want to run during sunrise with NYC skyline in the background. Gorgeous!
I have short hair, so I wash it daily. It’s super thick and needs some styling to help it along! I am trying to grow it out and dream of a bouncing ponytail as I run. You have lovely hair!
How do you find running with your iPhone? Do you put it in a pocket, or do you have something special to hold it in? I’ve considered it (taking pictures on runs would be great) but am concerned about breaking it… (or being unable to resist the urge to check my email during a long run… haha)
I run w/ my iPhone and I have an armband that I bought @ bestbuy. The arm band works great, but it would be time consuming and annoying to take it out of the arm band every time I wanted to take a picture. I’ve also run w/ it in my hand(and I tripped, and it went flying).. Thankfully it didn’t break(that time)… I just ordered an otterbox so i might start holding it in my hand again.
Running with my iPhone definitely isn’t ideal, but I’m so used to it at this point that it doesn’t bother me. I usually hold it in my right hand (and yes, I’ve definitely thrown it and dropped it — oops!) but if I’m wearing a jacket I’ll put it in my pocket. And yes, I am guilty of having checked my email during a long run. Haha.
Thanks! Maybe I’ll give it a try sometime 🙂
Great dress! Can’t believe I missed the sunrise!
I wash and condition my hair every day – but my hair is very flat and can get a little oily so it looks awful if I don’t. I have to condition because I get monster tangles otherwise. I envy people that don’t have to wash every day.
Cute coat!
I rinse my hair everyday because I workout 6 days a week but I shampoo and condition 3-4 times. 😀
I typically shower once a day, but usually don’t wash my hair until it looks greasy (so about every 3-4 days). My issue is that my hair takes SO long to blow dry that if I had to do it every single day, there is no way my hair would ever look presentable. Also, I love huge headbands that can hide it as long as possible. 😉
Fantastic sunrise photos, doll!! 🙂
I feel the same way about getting up lately! It feels like I just can’t catch up! This morning was a nice morning to run, not too cold but cold enough…if that makes sense hahah. And love the dress!! It’s very flattering, as if you need to be flattered with your already slim self 😉
i usually have to wash my hair once a day..lately, if I don’t go the gym I can get away with not washing it the next day if I put some powder or dry shampoo in my bangs.
I only wash my hair a couple times a week. Any more than that, and it gets frizzy. I really want to get some of that dry shampoo.
I woke up thinking I would be cold and threw on my fleece and gloves. Ended up taking the gloves of halfway through my six miles!
I wash my hair every other day, but use conditioner every day. My hair is super-curly and I can’t brush it out when it’s dry.
Those pictures are amazing! Does your point and shoot or phone really take such awesome photos?
I had the same initial dread about heading out this am and then “oh wait, this is not so bad.” And tights? SO over them for the year.
These pictures are all with my iPhone. I definitely don’t run with a camera, but my phone does a pretty good job!
I shower once/day and have to shampoo/condition everytime as my hair is pretty thin- if I go a day without washing it it gets so oily & gross. I honestly haven’t tried just rinsing it- but normally I’m so in routine of washing it I don’t mind.
BTW- love the dress & shoes!
