Good morning!

I’d love to say I stayed up to watch “Glee” after the Super Bowl last night, but I definitely did not. ABS and I went to a Super Bowl party in our neighborhood and though I had no interest in the game, I had plenty of interest in the mac and cheese and peanut butter brownies that were served. I’m easy to please.
But by the time we walked back to our apartment — he wanted to take a cab 10 blocks, and I insisted we walk off some of the food — I was ready to pass out. Last week I declared I’d be “catching up on sleep” this weekend, and that didn’t happen.
Catching up from the weekend? Here’s what you missed:
- I went out with the boys on Friday night and watched them drink Blue Ponies.
- I enjoyed a jam-packed Saturday that included an hour-long spin session, lots of weight training, a stop by Erica’s trunk show at Exhale Spa and some sweatpants.
- I ran the NYRR Gridiron Classic 4-mile race and PR’d, coming in at 31:12.
So yeah. I didn’t really rest, but I did have an awesome weekend.
Today is off to a great start. Want to know why? I will tell you.
THE WAKEUP:
Somehow, though we went to bed around 11:30 last night, I managed to pop right out of bed with my 5:30 am alarm. The first thing I did was check the weather: 37 degrees. Heat wave! I did some stretching, some abs and some teeth brushing, and I was ready for a nice run.

Ignore the bags under my eyes. I was wide awake.
THE RUN:
It was great! I ran 4 miles, the weather was incredible, the sunrise was gorgeous and the East River path was a bit icy, but manageable. I didn’t push my speed at all, and instead just enjoyed the peacefulness of the morning.

I even saw crazy chiuahua lady.

Every morning — seriously every morning — I see this woman pushing a stroller, without a baby in it, and walking with two chiuahuas. Yesterday Ashley and I saw her in Central Park while we were running, and today, as usual, I saw her again. I cannot avoid those yappy little dogs of hers.
THE WEATHER:
Blue sky. Mid-40s. Amazing.

THE OUTFIT:
I can’t decide how I feel about today’s getup, but here it is for your critiques.

It’s a bit more cleavage-y than I’d like, so I’m trying to sit up super-straight all day to avoid any extra…exposure?

The dress is from Express circa 2007, I think, and it sat in my closet for years with the tags still on it. I’m still trying to figure out a way to wear it that I don’t hate.
THE REST OF THE DAY:
I’ll be busy at the office with meetings and whatnot, then tonight I’m heading to the SELF magazine offices to be a taste taster for their annual food awards! Super exciting.
Have a great day, everyone!

I bought that dress about a year or so ago and it did the same thing as yours…sit in my closet for a long time trying to figure out how to wear. I never could figure it out, but your outfit looks fabulous!
I think the dress looks cute with the blazer. 🙂
Aww pretty blue sky! It’s been rainy and miserable here all day!!! 🙁
I saw you yesterday i realize just now when i saw your pic here i was in section yellow too
see you next time i hope !!!! have good day
I just got back from my lunch time run and it was like 50 degrees out there. Holy heat wave batman!!! I hope this weather sticks around.
I like the outfit. What about a big wide belt to rock it with? Try it out, I know you have one.
Haha, I am pretty sure I have seen that weird dog lady once or twice, too! So bizarre…
I’m doing the SELF taste testing on Wednesday! Can you report back on how it goes? I hope there are some yummy healthy eats!
Hey Ali! Theodora mentioned you might be needing a roommate for the National Half Marathon in March – I am as well! 🙂 Email me if you are!
I didn’t stay up for Glee either. I couldn’t keep my eyes open!!
Props to you for waken up supah early the day after Superbowl Sunday! 🙂
congrats on the pr! that jazz hand race pic is amazzzing.
seriously, how amazing was the weather yesterday? I ran in SHORTS for the first time since October. Please tell me it’s here to stay…
Nothing beats the sunrise you run to in the morning. Gorgeous!
Hmm, maybe I’ll start showing my clothes and getting input. Would you mind if I copied you? 🙂 heheh
Great job getting your run in today! I did Soul Cycle in Union Square and really enjoyed the AM sweat session.
I’m so impressed you wake up so early to run. I’m just not a morning person. Adorable dress- maybe try it with a wide belt to cinch in your waist, show off your cute bod & bring it up to date a bit? Looking fab as always. You might have inspired me to put on a real outfit (aka not pajamas) today!
I think you look super sharp in that outfit with the blazer on. It would look awesome with something bright red — a cardigan? heels? a bow in your hair?
I’m in love with your running jacket with the thumb holes. I’m just getting started running (errr, walking/running) with Couch 2 5k. I dream of someday being a person who wakes up early to run outside.
The dress looks great- any involvement with tights is a win in my book! I get so inspired to be an early riser and workout in the a.m. by you and then I got in bed at 11 which I officially declared was too late in order to get up @ 5 am to workout…I guess I was being lazy!! Have fun at SELF!
Congrats on the PR! And love your race outfit. 🙂
I too went to a Super Bowl party just for the food and friends, haha. Sadly, trekking back to Queens from Brooklyn and getting in at 1:00 AM didn’t leave room for a morning run today.
P.S. Love today’s dress! 🙂
