A Fabulous Fall Weekend

On Friday afternoon, as I got ready to leave the office, I wasn’t super excited about the weekend ahead. I had plenty of plans, but they felt more obligatory than exciting. In retrospect: It’s been an awesome weekend, and it’s not over yet! To recap…

Friday night I met ABS and hopped on the Long Island Railroad bound for CitiField. A Mets game in October? Crazy, right? It was his assistant’s birthday and she had rented out a suite for a bunch of people. Free food = Happy Ali! I munched on a little plate of chips and salsa, a slider (hold the cheese) and a hot dog. Yum! There was some delicious cake for dessert and Mr. Met even stopped by the suite for a rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Oh, and the Mets won, so I guess that’s cool, too.

Saturday morning I woke up bright and early (as usual) and hit the road for 13.3 miles of fun. As I mentioned before, this was my longest run to date! The weather was perfect and I felt great the whole time. I stretched plenty when I was done, and I’m not sore at all today. Awesome! After a truly epic shower, I went out to run some errands to keep my legs moving, then came back to my apartment for a glorious nap.

I’ve been staying in a lot lately, and it was nice to finally go out in the city last night. ABS and I went to Rue 57 for some delicious French food and to spend some time with my cousin, who was visiting from Philadelphia. I highly recommend this restaurant! And if you go, ask for William. He was the best, most fun waiter I’ve had in a long time. I had French onion soup to start (it’s soup season!) then got the scallop special for my entree. Plus a glass (OK, two glasses) of Reisling. ABS got a spicy tuna appetizer and the steak frites for his meal. We both left full and happy.

Sunday Funday kicked off with another run. A quick 5-miler along the Hudson River. It’s my favorite place to run and I’ll miss running along that path every day when I move to the east side in a few weeks. Then it was off to Whole Foods, my happy place! ABS hit up the salad bar for lunch and I did a solid grocery shop.

My latest addiction is watching “30 Rock.” I never watched it live but started it from the beginning through Netflix. I laugh at loud at every single episode. Any other “30 Rock” fans out there? Tracy Jordan cracks me up. I had some Lipton Noodle Soup (again with the soup) while watching a few episode, then washed it down with two chocolate macaroons from Whole Foods.

Now ABS and I are getting ready for a wedding tonight. My college roommate/dear friend’s mom is getting married tonight to a wonderful man and I’m so excited to be there for the ceremony. Plus, it’s here in the city, so it’s a fun Sunday night activity. Stay tuned for photos!

QUESTION: How was your weekend? What are your favorite fall activities?
